We carry responsibility
As a company, we have a social responsibility towards customers, employees and others. The companies of the GriwaGroup are doing this in many different ways:
On one side towards those who are not so fortunate in life. Therefore, we are committed – along with others – to work, for example against the poverty in Africa.
On the other side, also to those who live in our Alp region, use it or shape it together with others and us. This is why we are getting involved here, locally and regionally: for our mountains, our valley, its friends and its inhabitants. This is why we are committed to various mountaineering projects amount other projects. One example is the movie adaption of the outstanding life of Jeff Lowe, one of the most famous mountaineers who, so far is the only person to have managed a particularly difficult route through the Eiger North Wall. However, his life took a special turn here with us in Grindelwald. We would like to participate in sharing the story of this change.
Example: Infrastructures in Ghana
Together with Wordvision Switzerland, the GriwaGroup supports individual infrastructure programs such as the “Swiss Bongo Conference Hall” in Bongo/Ghana. There it is now possible to conduct various units of instruction for students, young people and adults, which are important, vital future prospects. Most importantly, the GriwaGroup set up a training kitchen there, where practical lessons can take place.
In addition, the GriwaGroup also repeatedly supported the micro credit program of World Vision Switzerland.
Example: Jeff Lowe's Metanoia - a prominent mountaineer life
What has us so fascinated about the story of Jeff Lowe is not just the in many ways outstanding mountaineering life. A life that had a particular high point here in Grindelwald in the winter of 1991 when he climbed the, thus far considered impossible, ice-route through the Eiger North Wall.
Jeff Lowe, who made almost 1000 (!) fist ascents, had to battle a serious illness in those years, which now keeps him wheelchair bound.
Nevertheless, and because of it, he has now filmed what he considered to have been the highlight of his mountaineering life: This legendary Eiger ascent.
He is, as he often says, the “same Jeff”, the one that at the time made it through the ice on to the Eiger summit, who today meets the challenges of a disabled life with the utmost courage.
We consider this attitude admirable and exemplary. This is why we want to contribute cinematically to this life and its high point (the Metanoia tour) and present it to a large audience, worldwide if possible.
Our mountains, our valley, where there may be many people with an inner attitude like Jeff Lowe, are also made accessible in a way, which many can feel rather than express when they come to us. And maybe even stay with us.
