«It's only possible to see what a caterpillar will become when the butterfly emerges.»

This may sound rather poetic, but something similar could be said when looking back at the growth of our group of companies: when we began in 1987, we had absolutely no idea what would develop from it all.

Today, the GriwaGroup (our informal name as it is more a brand name and not an own company) offers a chain of services from

  • planning and design to
  • construction
  • sales and administration to
  • management and
  • rental

of holiday properties.

We also take care of long-term tenants, whether from outside the area or from Grindelwald itself. This we achieve with five independent companies, all of which you will find on our Internet website:

How do our clients benefit?

Our clients – regardless from where they make occasional use of our chain of services – always receive the best possible support. And if at all in our power, exactly what they are looking for.

What we plan, build, carry out, manage, rent or resell is thus always a reflection of the market. But what kind of market? Who benefits from what we do?

How does the region around Grindelwald benefit?

We attach the utmost importance to working with local partners. For this reason alone, in the past we have rejected much that - in a business sense - would have actually paid off.

We have a centuries-old tradition here and we want to uphold it: after all, our valley is managed collectively. Even if in the society in which we live – which is based on the division of labour – each of us often carries out only a snippet of the work involved. When each one of us here does his best, then we will all have work for a long time yet. And thus also our "daily bread".

As a businessman, this is where I perceive a huge responsibility.

But those here who don't "work with their hands", our large tourism sector with all its hotels, restaurants and sports facilities, benefit when we work in this way: we've long been spreading the word we are making "warm beds out of cold". Everyone in Grindelwald and probably in the whole of Switzerland knows what this means.

Our unique valley is a gift that has been given to us all.
I feel a deep sense of obligation to this.

How do our members of staff benefit?

Through our – in the truest sense "joint" – work here in the heart of an almost secluded, yet celebrated mountain world, the staff of the GriwaGroup have an incredibly international and rewarding place of employment. In the Oberland – the "highlands" – top in the best sense of the word. And so a team has formed that to a great extent shares company responsibility, an asset that serves our clients and benefits our valley.

Get to know us! Then you'll understand what I mean.

What we want – and don't want

We want to create an "absolutely exceptional experience" for our clients. We want to achieve integration with us and a quality of life for everyone that it is impossible anywhere else in the world except here in Grindelwald. Regardless of whether you are a guest, an investor or come new to the valley to live here.

So there has to be great self-confidence.
But much courage is also needed.

What we don't want to offer is the exchangeable, but rather the unique. We don't want consumers who regard as almost worthless all that we value. Just because they merely use it. From that aspect, we don't want to attract strangers here but to invite friends. This is hospitality in a much more profound sense of the word. And this can never be achieved without having own values.

What are they?

Pay us a visit! Ask about what we have to offer. I really believe you'll then sense them.
I look forward to meeting you!
